I was the senior designer on an in-house production team that developed high school sports posters for different seasons. In this position, the name of the game was speed and I processed as many as 30 posters in a week, as well as managing the queue of posters and their timeline so we could all check on the status and priority level of the various schools on the roster.
When I came on board, the production team was all new staff, and there was only a set of maybe three or four templates to choose from to develop a schools poster. During my time in this role, I came up with several dozen fresh templates to ensure that schools didn't get posters that looked the same every season. I worked directly with the athletic directors from the schools to collect materials, and those who did not provide photos, I would try to play with their school colors and team logos so they would still get a fun poster regardless. I also came up with a team-wide proof-reading system to prevent costly and time-delaying errors.
Many of the posters below were developed in 30 - 90 minutes.
Size of the poster was determined mainly by the amount of ad placement space needed on the poster, and posters typically ranged from 13x19 up to 36x48
